Ghana midfielder Abdul-Fatawu Issahaku has signed a five-year with newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.
The deal was announced on Tuesday, July 21 following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the player featured for the Black Stars in their four games.
Issahaku is expected to join up with his teammates in La Manga, where they have been for pre-season.
They will play Osasuna on Wednesday, July 29 in Colchester in their first pre-season game. They will later play Oxford United, Wycombe Wanderers, Le Havre, Rayo Vallecano and Union Berlin before hosting Sunderland in their Premier League return later in August.
“I am proud to have signed for Ipswich Town,” Fatawu said.
“The ambition the club has is very exciting and I’m looking forward to being a part of that as we prepare for the Premier League season. After speaking to the manager (Gary O’Neil), I know what the expectation is and I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and starting work,” he added.
“I have played against Ipswich a few times during my time in England and I know how passionate the supporters are for the club, so I’m excited to play for them and show them what I can do.”
Town Manager Gary O’Neil said: “Abdul is a young player who has already gained good experience in the game and we’re excited to have him with us.
“He has strong physical and technical attributes, is comfortable on the ball and can test the opposition in one-on-one situations, so will provide us with good options within the squad.
“Having represented his country at the World Cup this summer, I know he is now looking forward to getting to work ahead of the Premier League season.”
Abdul-Fatawu Issahaku joined Leicester on loan for the 2023/24 season and played a central role as the Foxes won the Sky Bet Championship to win promotion to the Premier League, alongside Town, winning the club’s Young Player of the Year award.
He featured 11 times in the top-flight during a 2024/25 campaign interrupted by injury, before netting nine goals last season.
