The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a second and final notice to owners and operators of temporary structures and garages around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The local authority had issued a warning earlier this month, giving the owners and operators till Wednesday, February 5 to voluntarily remove their structures and garages.
KMA insisted in its final notice on Monday, January 19 that all temporary structures including wooden and metallic kiosks, containers, sheds, and makeshift garages situated in and around the stadium “be voluntarily removed by their owners on or before Wednesday, 5th February 2026”.
“Management wishes to emphasize that this exercise forms part of KMA’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, improve sanitation, ensure free movement, and restore order and aesthetic value to critical public spaces within the Kumasi metropolis,” the notice signed by KMA’s Public Relations Officer, Henrietta A. K. Aboagye, for the Metropolitan Chief Executive said.
The Works Department of the Assembly has been instructed to serve eviction notices on all affected structures to ensure full compliance.
“Owners and operators are, therefore, advised to take immediate steps to remove their properties within the stipulated time frame.”
It warned that failure to comply with the latest directive will see the forceful removal of structures by the Assembly.
It further stressed that the Assembly shall not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from the enforcement action.
“Management reiterates that no further extensions will be granted beyond this final notice and urges all affected persons to cooperate fully to avoid inconvenience.”
