The Bawumia Campaign Team is demanding an urgent apology from New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong over recent accusations about the party’s first Presidential Candidate.
Ken Agyapong is said to have accused fellow aspirant Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of citing health reasons in 1995 for the withdrawal of Albert Adu Boahen from the NPP primaries, won by J. A. Kufuor.
“For absolute clarity, Dr. Bawumia has never made the statements that have been attributed to him,” a press release issued by the Chairman of the Campaign Communications, Nana Akomea, said.
“We ask Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to produce the video or audio evidence without further delay if he stands by this baseless attack.”
The camp insisted that accuracy matters just like words.
“Wrongful attributions have the potential to unnecessarily mislead the public andinflame tensions within our Party.
“We urge Hon. Agyapong to urgently apologise to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the false statement he has made about him.”
The press release concluded that as a leader, Dr Bawumia believes all “must always state our views devoid of tantrums and personal insults while maintaining truthfulness, decorum, and restraint at all times”.
