Hon. Inusah Fuseini, a senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised concerns over what he described as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) failure to learn from past political errors, calling it a potential threat to Ghana’s multi-party democracy.
Speaking at a recent forum, Fuseini said, “We have invested our time, energy and resources into building a multi-party democracy. Our democracy will be better for it if political parties are strong. A strong opposition puts pressure on the governing party to perform.”
He criticised the NPP, stating that the party has not demonstrated lessons learned from previous missteps. “The MPP is not showing that they have taken steps to correct their mistakes, and that is why we are worried,” Fuseini added.
Fuseini emphasised that repeating mistakes cannot be equated with experience, warning that such patterns undermine democratic growth. He urged political parties to operate in good faith, reinforcing the importance of strong, accountable opposition as essential to Ghana’s democratic stability.
