The Minority in Parliament has congratulated Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for his reelection as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate for the 2028 general elections.
The former Vice President beat competition from four others including a member of the Minority Caucus to emerge victorious.
He polled a total of 110,643, representing 56.48 percent to win the highly contested presidential primaries.
In a statement issued on Sunday, February 1, the Minority Leader stressed that Dr Bawumia’s election represents a clear mandate from NPP delegates for him to lead the party.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin rallied all to throw support behind the former Vice President.
“The Minority calls upon all party members – aspirants, supporters, delegates and structures to consolidate behind Dr Bawumia’s leadership,” demanded the statement signed by Mr Afenyo-Markin, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency.
He pledged not only the support of the current members (MPs) but also that of former MPs for Dr Bawumia.
“Our collective experience – having secured 169 seats in 2016 and 137 in 2020 and having delivered transformative policies like the Free Senior High School programme, significant infrastructure development, and digital economy initiatives, positions us to provide crucial strategic guidance as we prepare for 2028.”
