The home of former Vice President and newly elected flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been turned into a sea of NPP faithfuls, as members of the party as well as well wishers have been visiting to congratulate him.
The former Vice President swept through 14 regions and about 232 constituncies across the country to emerge winner of the NPP’s fiercely contested presidential primaries held on Saturday.
Following the victory, a number of high-profile members of the party, including some fellow aspirants, have been visiting the party’s leader to congratulate.
Former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum as well as former General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong visited on Sunday and Monday respectively.
Leader of the NPP Caucus in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, also called on the former Vice President on Monday to congratulate him.
Several senior members including MPs, former ministers and past government appointees have all called on the flagbearer to congratulate him and pledge their support.
While the top hierarchy of the party visit, grassroot members of the party from all walks of life have not been left out.
Since Sunday morning, the enthusiastic base of the party, who voted massively for Dr. Bawumia, have been thronging his home as well, and the door is opened to them to interact with him.
In his engagements with the top hierarchy of the party, identifiable groups and the grassroots, Dr. Bawumia has been restating the need for members, regardless of who they supported in the primaries, to unite and work together in the interest of the party.
“A united front will make us so formidable and unbreakable and that is what we need as a party as we move towards 2028,” Dr. Bawumia said as he addressed a group of supporters.
“It doesn’t matter who supported who. We are one family so let us all come together and work in unity to achieve our common goal,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia is expected to welcome many more party stalwarts and supporters to his residence.
