The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced resumption of engagement with media conglomerate Media General to appear on all its platforms.
The party, then in government, had announced a boycott of all MG platforms, citing presenter bias and partiality against its representatives on the company’s major shows.
But in a statement dated Thursday, February 13, the party said it has lifted the boycott.
“This includes interviews, panel discussions, press conferences, and media briefings involving party executives and representatives,” the statement signed by the Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, said.
“This decision follows constructive discussions between the party leadership and Media General’s management.”
In a response statement, Media General welcomed the decision by the opposition party.
“We have consistently upheld the highest standards of journalism ethics, and values, delivering fearless reportage and impartial coverage,” the statement signed by Sena Edekor Esq, on behalf of management said.
“Our commitment to these principles remains unwavering yesterday, today and always.”
First to appear for an exclusive interview on MG’s leading television station, TV3, was the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
He was on the station’s morning show, New Day.
