The government of Ghana has announced an emergency evacuation exercise for citizens in Qatar as the tensions in the Middle East heightens.
It said this is a follow-up of efforts announced on Friday, March 6 as the security situation escalated.
“It is noted that this arrangement is strictly a one-way evacuation exercise to Ghana,” a press release by the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana stressed on Sunday, March 15.
Ghanaians in Qatar have, as a result, been given up till Tuesday, March 17 to re-confirm their interest to travelling back home.
The tensions in the Middle East led to a missile attack at the Dubai International Airport, resulting in minor injuries to two Ghanaians.
Some officers of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were hit by missile said to have been launched by Israeli forces.
The country has since lodged a complaint with the UN headquarters in New York.
