The Madina Divisional Command has launched an active investigation into a shooting incident involving former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, which occurred in Kwabenya on Sunday, June 21.
According to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, the incident took place while the former legislator was visiting her late father’s residence.
Preliminary findings indicate that Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear during the encounter.
Following the incident, she reported the matter to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482-24, which bore visible gunshot damage.
She was subsequently issued a Police Medical Report Form and is currently receiving treatment.
The damaged vehicle has been impounded by authorities for thorough forensic analysis.
The Madina Divisional Command is working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify all individuals involved.
The police have confirmed the arrest of six private security guards in connection with the incident.
During the operation, several firearms were recovered, including five pump-action guns and a Taurus pistol.
While police continue their search for other potential suspects, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the cause of the confrontation.
Legal counsel for the Kristo Asafo Mission alleged that the shots were warning shots fired to prevent the former MP from forcefully entering the premises, claiming she had already damaged the property’s gates with her vehicle.
The church has officially denied that any actual shooting of the former MP occurred at the site.
The incident reportedly stems from a leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, in September 2025.
