The brother of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has appeared before court following last Sunday’s shooting incident.
Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo, also known as Akofena, was in court together with eight other suspects, who were all picked up by police as part of investigations into the incident.
All the nine suspects were granted a bail of GH¢500,000 with two sureties each by the Adenta Circuit Court.
Among the offences they have been charged with are discharging guns in town contrary to Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960, causing unlawful damage contrary to Section 175(1)(A) of Act 29 and violating the Vigilantism and Related Offences Act, 2019 (Act 999).
The brief fact of the case reports that Akofena denied being present when the shooting incident occurred at his residence.
According to him, he had left for his second residence before the incident, which has left the former MP with gunshot wounds and admitted in a hospital.
