Ghana has recorded 10 new Covid-19 deaths as of Tuesday, June 23, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to 95.
This update comes barely 48 hours after the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Adoo, addressed the nation and announced the number of deaths as having increased from 70, as of Friday, June 19, to 85 on Sunday, June 21.
The increase raised concerns among the public as many interpreted the Sunday figures to mean that 15 new deaths had been recorded within 48 hours, but the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye intervened to clarify same on 3FM on Monday.

At the Ministry of Information’s press briefing on the update of the country’s case count Tuesday morning, Dr. Kuma-Aboagye announced that deaths now stand at 95.
This he explained has been arrived at after the facilities reporting deaths have gone through a process of validation by a national team.
So far, a total of 14,568 cases have been recorded.
