The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) has commenced technical investigations into Wednesday dawn’s system failure that has affected the National Interconnected Transmission System.
The System experienced a power disturbance at 3:11am on Wednesday, July 29 and, according to the nation’s power generation company, has resulted in “simultaneous tripping of some generating plants across the national power system”.
GRIDCo explained in a statement isued immediately afterwards that this has led to an interruption of power supply.
”GRIDCo has activated its established system restoration procedures,” the statement disclosed.
“Our engineers and system operators are working continuously, in close collaboration with power sector stakeholders to restore power within the shortest time possible without compromising safety.”
Meanwhile, it said a comprehensive technical investigation has commenced to determine the “precise” cause of the system disturbance.
It has apologised for the inconvenience caused, expressing appreciation for the “patience and understanding of the public during this period”.
“We remain fully committed to restoring supply to all affected customers as quickly and safely as possible and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.”
