President John Dramani Mahama has announced his first ministerial reshuffle, appointing substantive ministers for the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology after exactly a year of the passing of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Per the announcement,contained in a statement issued by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korley, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has been nominated to the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology while the current Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Defence.
According to the statement issued on Friday, August 7, 2026, the President, acting in accordance with Article 78(1) of the Constitution, submitted the names through the Speaker of Parliament for prior approval.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has also been nominated for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
As a result, Ahmed Ibrahim, who is also Member of Parliament for Banda, has been reshuffled to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
