Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen from 15,013 cases on Wednesday to 15,472 on Thursday, June 25.
The new total cumulative cases were confirmed by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, at the bi-weekly Covid-19 update on Thursday.
Dr Kuma-Aboagye indicated that there are no new deaths, keeping the figure still at 95.
He also said the number of recoveries had risen to 11,433 while the active cases are 3,947.
Out of the 3,947, 22 were confirmed by Dr Kuma-Aboagye to be in “severe” conditions while six were said to be in “critical” conditions.
But Media General‘s Sarah Parku had questioned the figures given by the GHS boss at the briefing, particularly as the active cases should have been 3,944 given the number of deaths and recoveries.
Though Dr Kuma-Aboagye insisted his figures were correct, the Disease Surveillance Department of the Service later revised the figures in the release on its website.
The figures on deaths and active cases, however, remained unchanged.
According to the revised figures, the total number of cumulative cases as of Tuesday, June 23 is 15,473.
The total number of recoveries is 11,431.
The number of patients in “severe” conditions is 24.
Regional breakdown
Greater Accra Region continues to lead the regions in the number of cases recorded. So far, it has confirmed 8,984 cases.
It is closely followed by the Ashanti Region with 2,957 cases.
