Speciallady Awareness, a charity foundation, in partnership with 3FM 92.7mhz donated medical supplies, toiletries, drinks and many other items worth thousands of pounds to support 37 Military Hospital in their delivery of essential medical care towards women with reproductive health issues.
Founder of the foundation, Elizabeth Amoaa, upon hearing about the Medical Negligence campaign by 3FM 92.7mhz joined forces with the morning show team to embark on the project.
Sunrise has for the past weeks highlighted the issue of medical negligence in Ghanaian hospitals to seeking to push for a national dialogue on the canker which is expected to eventually inform national policy.
The campaign has so far seen many victims share their experiences on the show and have are able to get expert advice on the way forward. Others have also been able to get the attention of authorities to act in instances where there appeared to be some alacrity to act on some alleged incidents of medical negligence.
Being a victim of founder medical negligence herself, Madam Elizabeth decided to look at the bigger picture by supporting medical institutions to reduce such unfortunate incidents, especially in women and children.
According to her she had suffered seven operations and a lot of complications as a result of negligence, and that she says puts her in a position to better understand the pain and the plights of victims. She believes there is hope for victims, though it medical negligence is avoidable.
The Outreach was supported by Advocate for World Health, Koodoo Hospitality, Kaya Management Services, Icann Brands,Event and innovations,Smiley’s Bakery and DZ group Ghana who all supported with products.
