African Leaders must rise against planned invasion of Burkina Faso

By Paul Mamattah

The Ambassador for Universal Peace Federation, Amb. Chief Oyeyemisola Fatuyi FIIM, CPI, has condemned the United States’ alleged plans to militarily intervene in Burkina Faso, warning that such an action would constitute a direct assault on African sovereignty.

This declaration comes at a time when the sovereignty and territorial integrity of African nations are increasingly under scrutiny.

Speaking in an interview with the Herald Newspaper in Accra, Amb. Chief Oyeyemisola Fatuyi, described the potential invasion as a dangerous escalation of foreign interference in African affairs and called for urgent continental solidarity to resist external aggression.

“The recent threat by the United States military to invade Burkina Faso is a stark reminder of the persistent threats to our sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

“This is not just an issue for Burkina Faso; it is a matter that concerns every African nation. We must unite in our response to this crisis and take decisive action to protect our people, our land, and our future,” said Ambassador Fatuyi.

Questioning the motives behind the proposed intervention, he highlighted the hypocrisy of Western powers that have historically supported oppressive regimes while claiming to champion democracy.

“Why is it that the American government, which has a long record of systemic racism and oppression against Black people within its own borders, suddenly believes it has the right to ‘protect’ Africa? Where was this concern when Africans suffered under dictators propped up by foreign interests?” He asked.

Ambassador Fatuyi, praised the leadership of Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traoré, noting that his administration has prioritized national sovereignty and self-determination.

“The people of Burkina Faso have not called for foreign intervention, Instead, they are reclaiming their dignity and charting their own path. Why should external forces impose their will upon them?” Amb. Fatuyi quizzed.

Drawing parallels with past Western military interventions in Libya and Iraq which left lasting devastation, he warned that Africa must not fall victim to another destabilizing foreign agenda.

“The same powers that claim to promote democracy have been the architects of destruction in other nations, Africa cannot afford to stand by while history repeats itself.” He said.

Calling for urgent action, Ambassador Fatuyi urged African leaders to reject any foreign military presence in Burkina Faso and strengthen regional defense mechanisms.

“This is about the collective sovereignty of Africa; we must prioritize African solutions to African problems, resist external manipulation, and stand firm against neo-colonialism.” Amb. Fatuyi declared.

He also criticized African leaders who enable foreign exploitation, stating, “Our people deserve leaders who defend their nations, not those who collude with foreign powers for personal gain. We cannot continue to watch as our youth flee their homelands due to bad governance and corruption.”

In a rallying cry for unity, Ambassador Fatuyi, called on Africans to resist all forms of foreign domination and assert their right to self-determination.

“Africa is not a playground for foreign military adventures, our land, our resources, and our future belong to us. The time to act is now.” He asserted.

The Ambassador’s statement comes amid growing tensions in the Sahel region, where anti-Western sentiment has risen following the withdrawal of French forces and the increasing influence of Russia in security partnerships.

He suggested that a U.S. intervention in Burkina Faso could further destabilize the region and provoke a broader continental backlash.

As debates over foreign military presence in Africa intensify, Ambassador Fatuyi’s remarks underscore the urgent need for African leaders to unite in defense of the continent’s sovereignty and chart an independent path toward peace and prosperity.
