By Paul Mamattah

The Kingmakers of the Ningo in the Greater Accra region, have installed Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XIl, as the new Paramount Chief of the Ningo Traditional Area, after the stool had remained vacant for twenty years.

The 56- year-old newly installed Chief known in private life as Abednego Tawia Gblie Osroagbo, succeeded the late Paramount Chief, Samuel Narh Osroagbo, who passed away in September 2005, creating the need for the installation of a new Paramount Chief to manage the traditional and customary affairs of the Great Ningo.

However, the process of installing a successor faced extended litigation, beginning at the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, progressing to the National House of Chiefs, and ultimately concluding with a Supreme Court judgment delivered in November 2024.

At his coronation, which took place at Ningo, official rites and rituals were performed by elders, heads of families, and the principal stool father of the Ningo Traditional Area to install Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XIl, as the new Paramount Chief for Ningo.

Addressing his people as the new Paramount Chief of Ningo, Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XIl, expressed gratitude to the Chiefs and elders for their steadfast support in achieving this milestone, appealed for unity to foster the peace that has eluded Great Ningo for years and vowed to foster unity and spearhead development initiatives across the enclave.

Reflecting on Ningo’s history, he acknowledged that the area has experienced both periods of disunity, which stalled progress, and times of unity, which paved the way for growth and peace.

Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XIl, lamented that the prolonged delay in installing a Paramount Chief had significantly hampered development efforts within the communities.

He pledged to revitalize economic activities in Ningo, promising to use his leadership to attract government support for the procurement of machinery and chemicals to boost mechanized and large-scale farming, saying; this would help tackle food shortages and reduce post-harvest losses.

Highlighting Ningo’s potential, Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XIl, noted that the area is rich in business opportunities but continues to suffer from underdevelopment due to poor road infrastructure.

He assured the people that he would actively lobby the government to construct roads to open up the area for economic growth.

Additionally, Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XIl, emphasized the importance of cleanliness in safeguarding the health of residents and vowed to ensure that regular sanitation exercises are carried out across communities to prevent the spread of diseases.

For nearly two decades, the late Nene Kanor Attiapah III, Mankralo of Ningo, served as the Acting Mantse (Paramount Chief) of Ningo and Acting President of the Ningo Traditional Council

Meanwhile, Nene Teye Attiapah IV, has also been enstooled as the Mankralo of the Ningo Traditional Area.

Nene Teye Attiapah IV, who hails from the Kabiawem clan was outdoored as the legitimate Mankralo of the Ningo Traditional Area.

Speaking to the media, the newly enstooled Mankralo of the Ningo Traditional Area, urged unity among the people of Ningo while highlighting the area’s developmental challenges.

The traditional leader emphasized the need for collective progress, stating that the area has lagged behind in key development initiatives.

He also pledged to prioritize education, vowing to empower the youth through increased access to schooling adding that he will also strengthen leadership and foster growth in the Ningo Traditional Area.

“I will work to ensure our children have the opportunity to go to school and build a better future,” he declared.
