More individuals and institutions continue to donate into the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, otherwise known as the “ Mahama Cares”.

The latest to show his support is businessman and Group Chairman of the Alive Industries, Mr Seidu Agongo.

He donated an amount of GH¢500,000, which is expected to help grow the fund into serving its purpose.

In his remarksafterpresenting a dummy cheque  at a ceremony at  the Ministry of Health in Accra , Mr Agongo, emphasized the importance of having a fund to cushion the health needs of its citizens.

As a businessman who runs a Dialysis Canter, he said he is aware kidney patients spend GH¢700 on a session which for him  puts pressure on their finances.

For him, the setting up of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund by President John Mahama, therefore shows his appreciation of the core health needs of the country.

In his opinion, businesses  thrive in an atmosphere where the citizens live in good health and it is for this reason every cooperate institution and other individuals should endeavour to contribute into the funds .

Launched on April  29, 2025 the ‘ Mahama Cares ‘ is targeting to raise Ghc3bn  to help support patients suffering from  Non Communicable Diseases such  as diabetes, stroke, hypertension, kidney and heart diseases.

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Minkah Akandoh, who received the  donation, thanked Mr Agongo and reteirated the point that  a healthy country is determined by its healthy citizens.

Aside Alive Industries,Telecel Group, also donated  medical equipment for the diagnoses and treatment of cervical cancer.

At the Ministry to also donate to the fund were East Cantonment Pharmacy who donated Ghc50, 000 and KMI Energy who also donated Ghc5, 000.

In view of the Ghc5,000 that came in from KMI Energy, the Minister For Health, advised other individuals and cooperate organisations not to be intimated by the huge monetary quotations before coming in to donate their widows mite.

He gave the channels for payment as NIB account number – 1135105341201 with the account name (MOH- Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund)  and at the airport branch or short code ×225#
