Co-founder of Read-book Library Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO), Miriam Osei-Agyemang, who is also host of 3FM’s mid-morning show Urban Blend, has entreated corporate Ghana to – as part of their corporate social responsibilities – focus more on efforts towards improving education in rural communities.

Read-Book Library Ghana among others seeks to provide children in urban poor and in the rural areas access to useful reading materials to rekindle their love for reading.

Speaking at the Readbook Library Ghana end-of-term event – sponsored by 3FM – for pupils of the Manya-Jorpanya D/A Basic School in the Eastern Region, Miriam Osei-Agyemang called for a collaborative effort to make education attractive to children in the rural areas.

The end-of-term event, which was headlined by ‘Wedding Car’ hitmaker Dadie Opanka and supported by TV3’s New Day host Johhnie Hughes and DJ Jaydy of the Urban blend fame, entertained over 200 pupils of the School with support of Indomie Ghana and challenged the children to spontaneous spelling competitions, for which winners received books.

On his part, Marketing Manager of De United Foods Industries Ghana Ltd, brand owners of Indomie, Belo Jean Cida Haruna, said as a nutritious meal provider, Indomie was equally interested in contributing to the reading skills of deprived children hence the decision to support Readbook Lib. Ghana.

The wife of the Divisional Chief of Manya, Mrs Rebecca Tei, lauded Readbook for the initiative and urged the children to spend more time on their books during the vacation to save them from engaging in social vices.

Co-founder of Readbook Lib. Gh Isaac Kwadwo Asare thanked the Chief and elders for the dedication and the immense support shown towards Readbook’s activities to enhance the standard of education in the community.
