In a shocking turn of events in the hotly contested political arena of Teshie, former NPP Parliamentary candidate for Ledzokuku constituency, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has dropped a bombshell announcement — he’s bidding farewell to the gritty world of Teshie politics.
The ex-MP, known for his unyielding stance and fantom strategies, has declared he will no longer vie for the parliamentary seat in Ledzokuku, presently held by the vibrant National Democratic Congress (NDC) Benjamin Narteh Ayiku.
“When it comes to Teshie politics, count me out. Make no mistake, I may still grace social gatherings and lend my hand of support, but the days of me running for MP are over,” Dr. Okoe Boye boldly declared in an exclusive interview with Asaase Radio.
Looking ahead to his next political move, the seasoned medical practitioner hinted at setting his sights on an executive role, eyeing the currently occupied regional chairman position held by Divine Otoo Agorhom.
Armed with a wealth of experience from the grassroots level, the former Health Minister expressed his desire to channel his knowledge and skills towards overseeing the party’s resurgence after facing setbacks in recent elections.
“I’ve learned the ropes of politics from the ground up. It’s a different game altogether. Now, it’s time to elevate that learning to the regional stage and empower the future parliamentary candidates,” Dr. Okoe Boye revealed, as he strategizes with party elders to potentially clinch the coveted chairman role.
Reflecting on the profound defeat suffered by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly in the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Okoe Boye underscored the need for transformational leadership to steer the party back to victory.
While acknowledging the mammoth loss suffered in the previous elections, the former MP emphasized the pivotal role of Accra in shaping the party’s future and rallying the entire nation behind a new wave of change.
Asserting his readiness to share his political acumen gleaned from years of service, Dr. Okoe Boye vowed to support and guide aspiring politicians to reclaim lost territory and rejuvenate the NPP’s standing.
As he embarks on a new chapter in his political journey, the esteemed doctor remains a formidable force to be reckoned with, poised to reshape the political landscape of Teshie and beyond.
