The ‘powerful’ Chinese woman, Aisha Huen, who has allegedly been engaging in illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, has been remanded in prison custody with her four other compatriots whiles investigations continue.
The courts held it could not trust Aisha Huen, a.k.a Aisha Enhuen, to avail herself for investigations.
Aisha was invited by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and detained to assist with investigations but had to be put before court in order not to flout the 48-hour detention constitutional provision.
She was sent to court on Tuesday with four other Chinese nationals who were arrested on a concession and believed to be working for Aisha. All four men have also been remanded in prison custody.
Lawyers for the Ghana Immigration Service indicated granting Aisha and the four others bail could stifle their investigations.

Aisha Hueng who has a permanent Ghanaian citizen passport has been deemed ‘powerful’ due to her connection with some powerful people in government and in the security services who get her released anytime she is arrested.
She has been arrested more than once, and anytime the arrest takes place, some “powerful” men intervene and get her released. She is alleged to have been engaging in illegal mining for years and has employed people who undertake the activities for her.
She is also said to have video recordings of highly connected Ghanaian men which she uses to blackmail them anytime there is an attempt to arrest her, these powerful men rush in to save her for fear of exposure.
She is also said to have brought in some girls which these men have slept with and she has all these on tape.
They are to reappear in court on May 23, 2017.
