The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has asked the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to step aside pending investigations into fire incident at Akosombo power control center.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on X on Sunday.
He also announced that there has been a major shake-up in the leadership of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region.
He said Mr Jinapor will at 2:00pm Monday, April 27 hold a major briefing on recent developments in electricity distribution.
The fire incident at the Akosombo Substation on Thursday led to an emergency response.
The incident led to mass power outage across the southern part of the country.
