In a moment of celebration for selfless leadership and community-driven impact, A. Issa Monnie, the Head of the Onua Foundation, has been honoured with the prestigious “CSR Executive of the Year 2025” award. The recognition comes as a testament to his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of the underprivileged and promoting sustainable community development across Ghana.
Under Monnie’s visionary leadership, Onua Foundation has become a household name in humanitarian work. His compassion and commitment have translated into several notable interventions, including donations to the Weija Leprosarium, Osu Children’s Home, and Teshie Orphanage, as well as the widely acclaimed “A Pad for Every Girl” initiative which distributed sanitary pads to girls in Ada and other underserved communities are on the waiting list. These efforts have not only provided relief but have also helped restore dignity and hope to thousands.
Monnie is also credited with pioneering two flagship annual events—“Boafo Ye Na”, which supports struggling families with food and essential supplies, and the “Sallah Feast”, a unifying celebration held in honor of the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu. Both events have become highlights of Onua Foundation’s calendar, fostering interfaith harmony and national cohesion.
The award also recognizes Monnie’s forward-looking leadership. In collaboration with civil society organizations, governmental bodies, and international NGOs, Onua Foundation is preparing to launch a legacy climate resilience project later this year. This initiative will address community challenges driven by climate change, such as flooding, food insecurity, and waste management, while empowering local residents with sustainable livelihood training and climate-smart training under its acronym SHE.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, organizers praised Monnie as “a beacon of transformational CSR leadership whose work transcends charity and reflects deep structural impact.” They emphasized that his model of inclusive development and civic partnership is exactly what the country needs in the face of growing social and environmental challenges.
