The General Secretary of the Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG), Anthony Baffoe, has admitted that the fight against racism has not been easy.
He also believes that the canker will never stop but Blacks need to be respected.
Baffoe, who played 13 times for the Black Stars and played most of his peak seasons in Germany, made this comment following the rate at which Blacks, especially Africans, are racially abused in Europe and elsewhere.
Several references can be made on this issue: Sulley Muntari later last season was racially attacked when he was playing for Pescara against Cagliari in the Italian Seria A.
Inaki Williams, who is eligible to play for Ghana, came under racial attack in August, 2016 when his side Atletic Bilbao visited Sporting Gijon in the Spanish La Liga.
Mario Balotelli and Kevin-Prince Boateng in 2013 were abused racially by some AS Roma fans when AC Milan met AS Roma in a league match. It took the intervention of the then captain of AS Roma, Francesco Totti, to speak to the fans before the match restarted.
In an interview with Onua FM, the current FIFA Coordinator narrated how he began as one of the first Black players in the German Bundesliga.
“I want to tell you that racism will never stop. One thing you must also know is that racism is not only Black and White, racism is also ethnical amongst us.
He said as one of FIFA and CAF coordinators since 2010, the three-step procedure to curb racism was activated for the first time recently.
“When it comes to racism, you can have a task force, you can have a lot of action, show racism the red card.
“[But] the most important thing is the impact. How are you going to go against it and all we want especially as Black people I always say is to have respect.”
