The late Maj. Mahama enrolled in 2015 as a distance-learning student in the Department of Criminology to read for a Master of Science (MSc) in Security and Risk Management degree.
He was due to graduate this summer when some residents of Denkyira Obuasi gruesomely murdered him on May 29, 2017 in the Central Region where he was on a national assignment.

His mother, Veronica Bamford, looking somber, received the posthumous award at the university’s graduation, attracting a resounding applause and standing ovation from the auditorium.
