One of Ghana’s budding journalists, Martin Asiedu-Dartey, who currently works with the TV station in Ghana TV3, has been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to study a Masters programme in the United Kingdom.
The talented broadcaster heads to the University of Salford, Manchester to study International Journalism for Digital Media with which he aims at pushing the frontiers of journalism in Ghana and Africa when he returns.
He is among 20 other Chevening scholars awarded for the 2017/2018 academic year.
With over 10 years of experience as a broadcast, online and print journalist, Martin looks forward to enhancing the efforts of TV3’s news team to consolidate the station’s tagline of ‘First in News. Best in Entertainment’.
His versatility has seen him host a myriad of TV3’s news and current affairs programmes including New Day and the flagship News 360. He anchors Midday Live as well with passion and finesse.

In an interview with the team, Martin said he chose the journalism profession due to his passion for telling the stories of the underprivileged in society and the need to shed light on the untold tales.
He also indicated that he intends to follow the footsteps of his mentor and legendary icon, the late Komla Dumor, who inspired him greatly to continue telling the African story from the African perspective to the rest of the world.
Before joining TV3 in 2014, Martin had worked with Citi FM for well over 5 years.
The Chevening Scholarship is the UK government’s global scholarship programme that offers future leaders a fully funded opportunity to study in any UK university of their choice for a year.
There were over 50, 000 applications for this year’s award from Africa. In Ghana, about 1,244 persons applied out of which 100 were shortlisted for an interview stage where the final 20 were selected.
The highly competitive scholarship has been in Ghana since 1983 and has about 300 alumni in various fields from Oil and Gas, Health, Education, Media, Governance, Politics, Civil Society amongst a host of others.
Application is opened for the 2018/2019 academic year for persons who may be interested.
