…Threatens FBI Exposure Against Kwame Despite

In a dramatic escalation of his long-standing feuds, controversial Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, has issued a chilling ultimatum to media magnate Osei Kwame Despite.

The self-proclaimed “King of African Dancehall” is vowing to unleash a torrent of “dirty secrets” that he claims could drag both himself and the Despite Group of Companies owner into an international imbroglio with the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Shatta Wale’s latest outburst, delivered during a fiery TikTok live session, comes with a stark warning: if employees and pundits on Despite’s widely popular platforms, Peace FM and UTV, continue to discuss him, he will “come and say things about Despite that would get me and him in trouble with the FBI.

This country won’t be able to handle it if I come out and say the things I know about Despite.”

The timing of Shatta Wale’s threats is particularly potent, emerging just days after The New Republic broke news of the FBI and the US government’s pursuit of four Ghanaians in connection with an alleged $100 million romance scam.

The suspects, identified as Isaac Oduro Boateng, Inusah Ahmed, Derrick Van Yeboah, and Patrick Kwame Asare, are accused of defrauding vulnerable individuals and businesses over a seven-year period.

Intriguingly, Shatta Wale has openly defended one of the lead suspects, Isaac Oduro Boateng, proclaiming his innocence. His public support for Boateng, coupled with the direct threat of FBI involvement against Despite, raises eyebrows and fuels speculation about the nature of the “secrets” he claims to possess.

This isn’t Shatta Wale’s first rodeo with Kwame Despite and his media empire. In 2023, the artist launched a tirade against Despite and Despite Media Group’s General Manager, Fadda Dickson, after entertainment personality Akwasi Aboagye dismissed his claims of being paid £80,000 for a performance at the Ghana Music Awards UK.

Shatta Wale has consistently accused Despite and Dickson of failing to rein in their staff who, he alleges, periodically launch “attacks” on his person and his craft.

His current fury appears to have been ignited by recent discussions on Neat FM (another Despite Media outlet), where entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah and others criticized rapper Medikal for inappropriately touching a female student during a live performance.

Shatta Wale, a close friend of Medikal, claims he brought the issue to Medikal’s attention and has seemingly taken the criticism as a personal affront.

Beyond the immediate provocations, Shatta Wale voiced a deeper resentment, accusing Despite’s media outlets of stifling the careers of talented musicians by “killing their crafts” and “branding their songs in a very distasteful manner.”

He cited the case of “Mansa” hitmaker Bisa Kdei, claiming the station branded his songs as “dirges,” leading to the artist’s alleged departure from music.

The social media sphere is abuzz with the viral video of Shatta Wale’s threats, leaving many to wonder if this latest saga will finally elicit a public response from Kwame Despite or his media group.

The dancehall star’s relentless pursuit of confrontation continues to keep him in the headlines, but this time, he’s invoked the specter of an international law enforcement agency, taking his grievances to an unprecedented level.
