Students of the School of Hygiene across the nation have resolved to hit the streets on Tuesday to protest the non-payment of their allowances.
According to them, they appear to have been weaned off the allowances unlike other health trainees.
This they attribute to their transfer from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.
But President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Accra campus of the School, Samuel Agyei, said they feel cheated by the situation.
“We are still health professionals,” he stressed on TV3’s News@10 on Saturday.
He said the demonstration will be held in the three cities with the School of Hygiene – Accra, Tamale and Ho.
Master Agyei appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to intervene if he indeed wants to make Accra one of the cleanest cities in Africa, since they will lead that charge.
He expressed hope that they will hear from authorities before Tuesday.
Other than that, he stressed, they will follow the demonstration up with other actions.
