Telecommunications network MTN has restored data connectivity across Ghana after two days of disruptions.
The disruptions were caused by a double undersea fibre optic cable cut in Europe.
The situation affected the network’s operations not only in Ghana but across 14 countries including South Africa.
The fibre optic cable cut in Europe affected the West African Cable System (WACS) as well worsening connectivity in West Africa.
The leading telecommunication company in Ghana apologized for the situation.
On Saturday evening, it announced full restoration of service.
“Thank you for your patience,” it said in an artwork. “We have fully restored our data service so you can tweet, browse, download and stream at the 4G+ speeds you love.”

Most users expect MTN to compensate them for the lack of network over the two-day period.
The National Communications Authority (NCA), which recently imposed sanctions on MTN over billing inaccuracies, may be forced to crack the whip if MTN does not compensate its data subscribers.
