Tributes have been paid to Liberian MP and former supermodel Munah Pelham-Youngblood, who has died at the age of 36. She was one of only 10 women in the West African nation’s 103-seat parliament. The Aflao Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested one Emmanuel Phillip, suspected to be a Nigerian by nationality, with the new Ghana voter ID card. The Command, stationed in Ketu South in the Volta Region, nabbed the suspect on Monday, July 6 when he attempted to illegally enter Ghana through the main Aflao border. Eight communities in Sefwi Awaso in the Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region have received some personal protective equipment  (PPEs) and other assorted items from the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC). The beneficiary communities are Awaso, Asempaneye, Atronsu, Chirano, Kukunso, Subri, Akaasu and Adiembra, all in the municipality. The Electoral Commission, Ghana says it will embark on a two-day exercise to register all eligible senior high school students for the new voter register. This exercise will particularly take place in schools that are not polling stations, therefore are not registration centres. One student at Mawuko Girls Senior High School in the Volta Region has been confirmed to have contracted coronavirus, 3news.com has gathered. The student (name withheld) showed symptoms of the viral disease over the weekend, forcing authorities to run tests on her samples on Monday. She was subsequently quarantined. The Education Directorate in the Ashanti Region has interdicted two teachers of KNUST SHS over the death of a final year student. The two are Owusu Ansah Seth, a Senior Housemaster, and Anthony Awotwe, housemaster of the Densu House, where the deceased student was. The Ghana Education Service is awaiting test results of nine students of Mpraeso Senior High School after samples were taken three days ago. The test for Covid-19 became necessary after a routine temperature check. The students have been quarantined at the school’s isolation centre. Following the confirmation of 641 new infections as of Monday, July 6, Ghana’s cumulative cases of coronavirus since its outbreak in March is 23,463.
