The Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur at the 57th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women stated, even in schools, 14 and 52 % of girls are victims of sexual abuse and gender-based violence respectively. Measures taken by Government to prevent and respond to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence include the…

The package was extended to September. In expressing gratitude to government for the incentives, the nurses and midwives say their help will definitely be needed in the coming days. “Considering that political parties are at the peak of their political…
Over 1,000 members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the New Edubiase Constituency in the Ashanti Region have thrown their support behind the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, George Oduro. The card-bearing NDC members, however, say they will vote for their flagbearer, John Mahama, in the December 7 presidential polls. Their decision, they say, comes at the back of persistent neglect of the views and inputs of constituency executives by the party’s national and regional leadership. According to the aggrieved party members, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate was forced on them, alleging Adams Abdul Salam does not…

The government has been chastised for failing to continue projects initiated by its predecessor, resulting in development deficit in the Ashanti Region. According to a former Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Akwasi Ofori Agyemang, the slow pace of growth in the region can be attributed to the inaction of the ruling party New Patriotic Party (NPP). He observed hospital projects at Fomena, Kumawu and Bekwai have delayed because the NPP decided to abrogate the projects. “The NPP after clinching power in 2016 halted the Fomena Hospital project and that of Kumawu for obvious reasons. If the projects had continued by…
