Burundi’s cabinet has suspended playing secular music in public places during the seven-day mourning announced by the government following the death of President Pierre Nkurunziza. The mayor of the commercial capital, Bujumbura, Freddy Mbonimpa said secular music was banned but people could still play gospel music. The governor of the capital, Gitega, Venant Manirambona ,said songs “praising God” were allowed. Mayor Mbonimpa in a statement said leisure activities were suspended during the mourning period. There have been 498 new cases of coronavirus recorded within the last 24 hours. The latest update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on its website puts the total figure at 10,856 from the previous 10,358 on Thursday. The Service was quiet on the source of the latest cases but the distribution is spread among the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western regions with the Upper East Region recording over 80 cases. The chiefs of Gomoa Ojobi in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region has banned a 57-year-old pastor of the African Faith Tabernacle Church from churching in the community after having an affair with his aunt who already has 11 children.
