The two suspects arrested by the military in Damongo for allegedly possessing firearms have been granted bail by the Bole Magistrate Court presided over by His Worship Andrew Prince Cudjoe. The two, Inusah Iddisah and Salifu Abubakar, pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of firearms. They were consequently granted bail of GH¢2,000 each with one surety. The Court has also asked them to produce documents to the guns. They are to reappear on Tuesday, August 11. The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested seven persons in connection with the voter registration-related disturbances that led to the death of a 28-year-old teacher trainee graduate at Banda on Monday, July 13. The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, who confirmed the arrest to 3news.com said the suspects were arrested upon intelligence gathered by the Command. Ghana’s Covid-19 fatalities continue to rise by each case count given by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). The latest count released by the Disease Surveillance Department of the Service, on Monday, July 20, sees five persons losing the battle to the virus. This brings the total number of deaths to 153. The total number of cases has also risen sharply, from 27,667 to 28,430. But on a brighter side, more persons have either recovered or been discharged. Four persons are in the grips of the police for allegedly disrupting the voter registration exercise at the Steps to Christ Registration Centre in the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region. The cause of the incident is still unknown but police say the men just stormed the centre and one of them pulled a pistol and fired warning shots. The Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Daniel Pondei, got all scared while being questioned by a committee in Nigeria’s House of Representatives when he slumped forward in his chair.
