Virologist Dr Sebastian Eugene Arthur has suggested to the government to place restrictions on movement of persons within the Obuasi township in the Ashanti Region. This follows the increasing numbers of coronavirus cases in that part of the country. An Accra High Court has sentenced former board chair of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie, to six years in prison with hard labour. Two others, former Director General of NCA William Mathew Tevie, and a former Deputy National Security Coordinator on the NCA Board, Alhaji Osman Mimina, were each given five years in prison with hard labour. The Northern Region capital, Tamale, on Monday, May 11 recorded one death due to coronavirus. The case was first reported at the Tamale Central Hospital, the Northern Regional Director of Health Services revealed.
