The Western Region Dispatch Center of the Ghana Ambulance Service has, so far, recorded 40 calls since the arrival of the constituency ambulances. Out of the number, five of them were prank calls. Government has assured the police and other security agencies that their pension scheme, CAP 30, has and will not been withdrawn. This comes in the wake of a publication making rounds that the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has directed the withdrawal of the scheme. Ghana’s senior national female team, the Black Queens, has been invited to play in the Turkish Women’s Cup tournament in Turkey next month. The Shama District Assembly in the Western Region has placed a temporary ban on clay mining in the district to check the activities of individuals and companies undertaking them illegally. District Chief Executive Joseph Amoah said the measure has become necessary following the emergence of some unscrupulous individuals who have entered the district and mining clay without the express approval of the assembly and the relevant regulatory bodies. “The Assembly is also losing revenue due to the activities of the illegal clay miners. The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has temporarily banned the celebration of hall weeks on campus. The decision was taken as a result of last Saturday dawn’s clashes between students of Atlantic Hall and Oguaa Hall. The violence, which aborted Oguaa Hall Week celebrations, led to some students sustaining various degree of injury and the vandalism of property. The Rubber Outgrowers and Agents Association (ROAA) has accused the Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL) of deliberate attempts to collapse the rubber industry.
