The Eastern Regional branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is poised to wrestle the remaining six seats from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 parliamentary elections. Authorities at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have announced that immediate investigations into allegations of negligence levelled against some staff of the 37 Military Hospital have begun. First published by Accra-based Asempa FM, a video circulated on social media has a man blaming the hospital for the death of his brother, Solomon Asare Kumah. Renowned legal practitioner Ace Anan Ankomah was on Monday, February 24 handed a judgement by an Accra High Court in the case he brought against popular Facebook presenter Kevin Ekow Taylor of With All Due Respect fame. The Kasoa Central District has arrested one Abdulai Hakuy, a Nigerien for attempting to obtain a Ghana Card at the ongoing National Identification Authority registration exercise at Adam Nana a suburb of Kasoa last week. According to the District Police Commander of Kasoa, Superintendent Samuel Odame, on February 20th, the suspect appeared at the registration centre with one other person by name Nurudeen Mohammed, who claimed to be a Ghanaian to guarantee for Abdulai Hakuy (the suspect). Government through the Ministry of Finance has released GH¢5 billion to the receiver of the defunct Savings and Loans and microfinance companies to “fully settle all validated claims due depositors”. This was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry on Monday, February 24. Dredging works for the construction of the Takoradi Integrated Containers and Multipurpose Terminal at the Port of Takoradi has begun. The construction of the terminal, to be known as Atlantic Terminal, is being done by a wholly Ghanaian company, Ibistek Company Ltd. The contractor, Jan De Nul, is projecting to finish the work by April 2020 to allow for the commencement of the construction of the quay wall for the terminal.
