The Western Region Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) impounded 150 uncustomed vehicles in 2019. The owners failed to provide the necessary documentations for their vehicles when the cars were confiscated by the Division’s taskforce. Four persons believed to be from the same family have been trapped to death in a galamsey pit at Salema near Ainyinase in the Ellembele District of the Western Region. An eye witness tells Connect FM’s OMANBAPA morning show host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson that the incident happened late Monday, around 4pm. The pit in which they were mining is said to have caved in. There appears to be bad blood between former President Jerry John Rawlings and authorities of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) over the dismissal of some senior staff of the school, including a former Vice Chancellor Professor Mawutor Avoke.
