Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has filed his first known suit at an Accra high court. In the writ dated March 22, 2019, the Special Prosecutor is suing Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Constituency Mahama Ayariga for abuse of office. The former minister of state is accused of tax evasion in the clearance of three Toyota V8 vehicles. He is also sued for illegal transfer of foreign exchange from Ghana to Dubai without having the required license to undertake such transaction. Government has provided a total of 21 mechanised water supply systems to the Ghana Prisons Service to alleviate the challenges faced by the Service in the provision of water for drinking and for the maintenance of personal and environmental hygiene in the prisons all over the country. The water supply systems will serve the inmates and correction officers of 21 prisons across the country as part of government’s ‘Water for All’ programme. Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan has been named in the 29-man provisional squad released by coach Kwesi Appiah on Wednesday, a few hours after he rescinded a decision to retire permanently from the team. The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has reviewed the security measures in Chereponi and Saboba districts following renewed clashes that have so far claimed one life. Frantic investigations have begun into the clashes and already five persons picked up on Tuesday will be processed for court on Thursday, May 23. iWatch Africa investigation has revealed that failure of some six mining companies to pay dividends due Ghana deprived the nation of potential revenue amounting to $14,148,373 as at October 2018. The government of Ghana under Section 43 of the Minerals and Mining Act of 2006, Act 732, has 10 per cent Carried Interest in all mining companies registered under the Companies Act of 1963. There was uneasy calm in some communities in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality of the Eastern Region on Tuesday morning as staff of Power Distribution Services (PDS) continue disconnecting households who are in debt for two or more years. PDS staff with police escort were in households at Abanze to continue their disconnection exercise from Monday.
