Cuba has accepted to train 40 brilliant but needy medical students a year from Zongos, inner cities and other deprived communities in Ghana. This follows a proposal by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the government of Cuba to extend the special arrangement between the two countries for the training of health personnel in deprived communities. Vice President Bawumia made the proposal when he held bilateral talks with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel as part of a two-day official visit to the Caribbean country. A member of the Nigerian Air Force who returned a lost parcel containing 37,000 euros ($41,500; £33,300) cash has received a two-rank promotion, as part of his reward. Bashir Umar had been on patrol duties with other colleagues at an airport in the northern state of Kano when he discovered the cash. Embattled Chief Executive Officer of defunct gold-trading firm Menzgold Ghana Limited Nana Appiah Mensah has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
