The first runner-up of last year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful, Baaba Botchway, has started a nationwide tour of senior high schools to educate students on mental health. The tour, dubbed ‘My Mind, My Health’, began on Wednesday at Krobo Girls’ Senior High School, her alma mater. Baaba, who represented the Central Region in the reality show, spoke to the girls about managing teen pressure and warding off bullies, particularly cyber-bullies. Ethiopia’s prime minister has done press-ups with dozens of protesting soldiers, who marched with guns into his office in the capital, Addis Ababa. Abiy Ahmed was unhappy that soldiers had brought weapons into his office and ordered them to do 10 press-ups. They were among several hundred protesting soldiers who entered his office grounds to demand a pay rise. Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed shock over a claim by the Akufo-Addo government that the 2017 allocation of $1 million per constituency per year expired with the budget of December 2017. Five members of the Jehovah’s Witness religious group have been detained in Russia on weapons and extremism charges, investigators say. The Christian denomination has faced scrutiny in Russia in recent years and was forcibly disbanded in 2017. Human rights groups have accused the government of a “sweeping” campaign of persecution against members. Last year they were added to a list of extremist organisations, effectively criminalising their religious activity.
