An Accra High Court has dismissed an application brought before it by Dr Stephen Kwabena Opuni, the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board, to have his account unfrozen by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Dr Opuni’s account has been frozen by EOCO pending judgement on his trial of willfully causing financial loss to the state, among other 26 charges. Workers of METKA at Aboadze in the Western Region are said to be living in fear after youth of the area besieged the firm’s premises last Friday. Reports gathered by 3news.com say the youth attacked the company in demand for jobs they say are going to non-indigenes. Health workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo are to begin an immunisation campaign in an attempt to halt the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.
