Government has set up a 10-member committee tasked with the responsibility to work out a Charter on Ghana Beyond Aid. The committee is expected to be chaired by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo. It will comprise a member each from the ministries of Finance, Planning and Employment and Labour Relations, three members from organized labour and three members from the Private Enterprise Federation (PEF). The International Monetary Fund’s board on Monday approved the next disbursement of about $191 million under Ghana’s aid program, while urging the West African country to take further steps to address its high debt. The commodity exporter will begin a road show this week to market a $2.5 billion Eurobond issuance to restructure debt and support the government’s 2018 budget, a senior government official said. After 44 years, a new set of national base land maps are to be drawn for Ghana soon, the Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed. The last national survey was undertaken in 1974, after which the maps currently in use were drawn. More than 100,000 men in Mozambique are to be circumcised in a bid to help prevent sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/Aids. The health authorities in the central province of Zambezia say their campaign will focus on districts of Ato-Molocue, Ile and Gurue, where circumcision is not a common practice.
