An Accra Circuit Court has refused to grant bail to the ten accused persons in the Kwabenya Police Station attack after applications filed by their lawyers. Saudi Arabia has for the first time opened applications for women to join its military. Women have until Thursday to apply for positions with the rank of soldier in the provinces of Riyadh, Mecca, al-Qassim and Medina. The roles do not appear to involve combat, but will instead give women the opportunity to work in security. Superstar Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor died of accidental drowning, a Dubai post-mortem report has said. The 54-year-old actress, known simply as Sridevi, drowned in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness, it says. It had earlier been reported that she died of cardiac arrest on Saturday while at a family wedding in Dubai. Bollywood stars, sporting giants and leading politicians have reacted with shock to her death. The convicted former National Coordinator of the defunct National Youth Employment Programme, Abuga Pele, begged for a lesser jail term due to his status as a former Member of Parliament. Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed sympathies over the recent raid by terrorist group Boko Haram in Dapchi in Yobe State in Nigeria.
