The Ministry of Health has been advised to increase its surveillance at all levels over a strange disease that has already killed 11 persons in Liberia. A letter written by the Ministry to heads of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) warned all and sundry to be alert over the disease. The symptoms reported by victims are mainly headache, weakness, diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pains and mental confusion. All Kenyan schoolgirls are to get free sanitary pads, the government has said. It is hoped the move will improve access to education in a country where many cannot afford sanitary products like pads and tampons. According to the UN’s education agency, one in 10 girls in sub-Saharan Africa misses school during their period. Eight persons are still on the wanted list of the Ghana Police Service, in connection with the murder of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.
