Construction of an onion factory is expected to begin in Bazua in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region under the ‘One District, One Factory’ policy of government. The factory will be set up by a Ghanaian-owned Northern Industrial Onion Processing Company in collaboration with a company in China. The factory when completed will reduce onion rots and also increase production from farmers in the three regions of the north. Tuesday’s explosion at a utensils-producing company in Sekondi/Takoradi in the Western Region has left over 150 persons hospitalized, 3news.com has learnt. The hospitalized are workers and residents who suffered various degrees of injury as a result of the explosion. The explosion, which resulted in fire, was near an oil depot, Olam Distributors. An explosion at factory near OLAM Oil Depot on the Sekondi-Takoradi highway on Tuesday morning has left several of the workers injured. The explosion is said to have kindled fire at the depot.
