The first session of the Media General News training held at the Airport West Hotel, Accra came to a successful end over the weekend. The two-day training had about 25 personnel from MG Radio, MG TV and MG Digital in attendance. The main facilitator was former BBC journalist Joseph Warungu, who is currently the General Manager for MG News. The Committee on Employment, Social Welfare and State Enterprises of Parliament has recommended to government to take over both assets and liabilities of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA). Speaking on the floor of Parliament at the second reading of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) Bill 2017, the Chairman of the Committee, Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, indicated that Clause 34 of the Bill provides that assets, rights and liabilities of SADA established under the SADA Act 805 be transferred to the Northern Development Authority upon its establishment. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will on Tuesday, October 10 launch the restoration of monthly allowances for trainee nurses and midwives. A ceremony has been scheduled to take place at the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training School to mark the launch. About 68,000 trainee nurses and midwives from public health training institutions are expected to benefit from the programme. The gesture is to mark the fulfillment of a manifesto promise by the president.
