Inflation rate for March has declined to 12.8 per cent from the 13.2 per cent recorded in February. This rate is the lowest since December, 2013. This means prices of goods and services were fairly stable during the review period. The year-on-year non-food inflation rate for March 2017 was 15.6 per cent compared with the 16.4 per cent recorded last month. Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Wednesday, April 12 took delivery of one of the three Kantanka vehicles he is said to have ordered for himself. Named ‘Kantanka Otumfuo’, the 4X4 car was delivered by Akwasi Safo Kantanka, the son of the renown Apostle Kojo Safo and head of Kantanka Automobiles. The fuel-efficient and strong-engine SUV has become the favourite for some top Ghanaians including the current president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who used it for his 2016 campaign tour. Staff of the Public Affairs Directorate of Parliament have been trained to increase public engagement in the legislative process. At a workshop in Koforidua, the Public Affairs Director of the department, Kate Addo, conceded there are gaps in the communication from Parliament. German police have detained a suspect with “Islamist links” following a bomb attack on the bus of the Borussia Dortmund football team. Prosecutors also said one of the three explosives used in Tuesday evening’s attack contained metal strips. Two letters claiming responsibility for the attack were being investigated, they said. Prosecutors are treating the blasts as a terror attack but say the precise motive is unclear at present. Five persons have so far been arrested in connection with last Tuesday’s clashes at Agbogbloshie, a suburb of Accra. Two of the men arrested were said to be in possession of locally manufactured guns while one had on him a machete.
