The new Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive, Osei Assibey Antwi, has averted bloodbath at the Sofoline transport terminal as drivers had planned to attack the Assembly’s engineers, who were to start work on an ultra-modern bus terminal on Monday. The Kumasi Central Market was gutted by fire Monday afternoon. It is unclear what caused the fire but fire officers were at the scene working to douse the flames. A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded in prison custody eight members of political vigilante group Delta Force. The eight were arrested last Thursday, April 6 for aiding the escape of 13 of their members standing trial at the KMA Circuit Court. There is heavy police presence at Circuit Court 2 in Kumasi, where members of political vigilante group Delta Force who aided the escape of other members are standing trial.
