A memorial service will be held at Chinese club Beijing Enterprises on Tuesday for former Newcastle United player Cheick Tiote. Tiote, who was 30, collapsed and died during training in China last week. A statement said: “Tiote’s family will be there with his team-mates past and present. The infestation of fall armyworms on maize farms in the Ashanti Region continues to worsen despite efforts by the government to manage the spread of the pests. About 62,627 hectares of maize farms have so far been infested by the dreaded fall armyworm in all the 30 districts of Ashanti Region. About 15 people are missing after a seven-storey building collapsed on Monday night in an eastern suburb of the Kenyan capital Nairobi. The Kenya Red Cross tweeted that response teams were on the scene at the building, in the Kware Pipeline Embakasi area. The Star newspaper said dozens were evacuated moments before the collapse. Witness told the paper the building had been condemned after cracks appeared in its walls. A total of 49 people died after a building collapsed in heavy rain in Nairobi in April 2017. Source: BBC
