Ghana Cocoa Board on Friday signed a 1.3 billion dollar loan agreement with international banks to fund the purchases for the 2019/20 cocoa season, due to start in early October. The loan agreement was signed in Paris, France, with 24 banks, including Societe Generale, Netbank, Naxitis, MUFG bank and Ghana International Bank. Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, said at the signing ceremony through a live streaming from Paris, that the facility would be used to purchase 850,000 tonnes of cocoa from farmers. Drone attacks have set alight two major oil facilities run by the state-owned company Aramco in Saudi Arabia, state media say. Footage showed flames and huge palls of smoke over Abqaiq, site of Aramco’s largest oil processing plant. A second drone attack also started fires in the Khurais oilfield to the west. A joint military and police team has rounded up 18 suspected criminals in a swoop conducted in the Tamale Metropolis. The swoop took place on Wednesday September 11. Substances suspected to be narcotics were seized. The team also impounded eight motorbikes belonging to some suspects who absconded. An altercation between a married couple over sex has left Mavis Akolbila dead and her husband, William Akolbila in the Intensive Care Unit. The deceased was found in a pool of blood on Friday afternoon after police went to the couple’s residence at Janjori Kukuo in the Nanton District of the Northern region.
